Elo Live Score: Real-Time NFL Game Updates
Elo Live Score is a Chrome extension developed by amber that provides real-time updates for NFL games based on FiveThirtyEight's Elo rating system. This extension is designed to make it easier for users to track the performance of teams relative to their own forecasts.
The extension pulls current game data from the ESPN API and displays the current quarter, time remaining, and score for each live game on FiveThirtyEight's Elo game results page. When there is a live game, the page will refresh every minute to ensure users have the most up-to-date information. If there are no live games, the page will refresh every hour.
While the code of the extension may not be the cleanest and lacks error handling, it is low-risk to try out. If the extension doesn't work as expected, it can be easily removed. The source code for the extension is available on GitHub.
Please note that Elo Live Score only requires access to the FiveThirtyEight page, the ability to reload the page, and access to the ESPN API endpoint for querying current scores. No usage data is collected by the extension itself.
